Diagnostic Laboratory and Imaging

Ultrasound and Endoscopy

We offer the latest in non-invasive diagnostics such as ultrasound and endoscopy. Ultrasound, with the help of state-of-the-art sound waves, allows the pet to simply lie on their back while the doctor examines vital internal organs to determine the cause of your pet’s illness. Endoscopy, by using fiber optics, allows the veterinarian to examine the gastrointestinal tract an often retrieve foreign objects. Both procedures can sometimes eliminate much more invasive surgical procedures.

Blood Values

Using certain blood values to determine the cause of illness is something most are accustomed to at human hospitals. At Carroll County Animal Hospital we use these same blood tests to check for diseases such as liver disease, kidney failure, heartworm disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer. Many of the diseases if detected early can be managed, if not cured, for many years.

One of the most common diagnostics available, x-rays are used to make a special picture called a radiograph. Radiographs are helpful in determining the extent of injuries in severe trauma patients, managing fracture repairs, or localizing the site of disease. We offer the latest in radiograph technology, with our new digital x-ray machine. The digital x-ray machine provides quicker more precise radiographs so that the doctors can diagnosis more accurately.
